The studios support fashion, media and advertising clients with highly varied production requirements. The refresh needed to improve circulation, usability and day-to-day function across large, versatile spaces without erasing the raw structure and accumulated character that made the venue distinctive.
The design approach begins with the existing factory rather than imposing a new identity over it. Rustic structural elements are retained and clarified, allowing their texture and scale to remain visible. Targeted interventions improve how clients and production teams move through the facility and how the studios support different working arrangements. New elements are deliberately restrained, strengthening functionality and comfort while allowing the building’s original fabric and the activity of production to remain the visual focus.
The renewed Central Studios feels more usable and considered without becoming over-designed. Its industrial history remains present, while the improved circulation and facilities support the bespoke, fast-changing demands of contemporary photo and video production.
