La Bottega

Hangzhou, China,  220 sqm

LUNEURS COMMUNITY: Gallery

Situated along a narrow leafy street with traditional style teahouses and buildings, La bottega is Italian eatery in Hangzhou with its roots in the owners home towns in Italy. A little lane along the side of the building gives a glimpse to what lies inside with an Italian inspired street and exterior patio overlooking the lake along the rear.

Green arched windows line the exterior of the traditional grey brick façade flooding the interior with natural light. The existing wooden pitched roof structure remains exposed with added skylights, bringing a light and airy atmosphere. Built-in banquettes in earthy oranges and reds line the sides of the open room. Raw concrete and plaster walls contrast against the geometric wooden parquet and mosaic tiled flooring.

At the end of the space is the feature bar and working pizza area. The black and white tiled counters with marble tops give a nod towards traditional, referencing the history of the food that is made here. Shelves lined with wine, Italian produce, and open cabinets, with stacked plates create an organically styled and casual eatery vibe. The team’s branding is young, playful and edgy. Reflected in the vibrant artworks hanging on the walls in traditional style, this mix of new and old is continued throughout.
