The project needed to accommodate two different dining moods while maintaining a clear identity from floor to floor. The ground level called for the directness and energy of a neighbourhood pizzeria, while the upper floor required a quieter setting for longer meals and terrace dining.

On the ground floor, distressed concrete, exposed surfaces, reclaimed timber flooring and stone-filled gabion walls reflect the rustic simplicity of the food. Upstairs, the material language becomes cleaner and more controlled, with contrasting black-and-white walls and fittings. A glazed terrace with an opening roof extends the formal dining area and allows it to respond to changing weather and seasons.

The contrast between the two levels gives guests a choice without splitting the restaurant’s identity. D.O.C moves naturally from lively and rustic to calm and refined, allowing the experience to suit different occasions within one compact venue.
