The 256-square-metre interior needed to feel polished enough for dining while remaining relaxed and robust as a bar. The design also had to give a restrained material palette enough character without overwhelming the food and social atmosphere.

Terrazzo and brass bring refinement to the space, set against distressed steel, concrete and repurposed shipping pallets. Natural textures soften the harder industrial surfaces, while flashes of red introduce energy and a playful Italian accent. The contrasting materials allow the venue to move comfortably between daytime dining and evening drinks.
The finished space feels warm, direct and quietly sophisticated. Industrial elements give Bar Centrale an urban edge, while the natural finishes, brass details and colour create the ease of a local Italian gathering place.
