hcreates reimagines Tiong Bahru Bakery with a design that’s as fresh and joyful as its croissants

Singapore, 2025,  hcreates interior design has whipped up a brand-new interior concept for Tiong Bahru Bakery, bringing the brand’s signature charm, community spirit, and buttery energy to life in a space that feels as warm and inviting as your favorite home away from home.

Inspired by the creative soul of Singapore’s Tiong Bahru district, the design celebrates everything that makes this beloved bakery more than just a place for coffee and croissants, it’s a place where stories are shared, friendships form, and mornings begin with a smile.

A Bakery That’s More Than a Bakery

This new concept is all about celebrating neighborhoods, the rhythm of daily life, the familiar faces, and the small, spontaneous connections that make a community feel alive. The space flows naturally, encouraging people to linger, chat, and take a moment to slow down.

Flow, Form, and Texture

The interiors come to life with curved counters and organic movement, reflecting the easy flow of the neighborhood streets. hcreates layered the space with playful textures and sculptural features, echoing the handmade beauty of Tiong Bahru Bakery’s pastries. Every surface tells a story, from the smooth counters that showcase the day’s bakes to the piping details inspired by the bakery’s crayon-colored branding.

A Playful, Family-Friendly Heart

The back seating area brings a burst of fun and color, a joyful nook for families, friends, and anyone who wants to linger a little longer. Sunlight filters through new skylights and mirrors, adding warmth and sparkle to the cozy space. It’s cheerful, comfortable, and filled with the easygoing spirit that makes people feel instantly at home.

A Fresh Take: The Self-Service Unit

The biggest change? A brand-new central self-service unit that puts the spotlight on abundance, variety, and, of course, the pastries. Designed to catch the eye (and the appetite), this vibrant display invites customers to explore, pick their favorites, and enjoy the full spread of Tiong Bahru Bakery’s creations.

To go with the new setup, the bakery has rolled out a series of new pastry items crafted specifically for this format. Think grab-and-go delights and fresh temptations that celebrate the bakery’s ever-evolving creativity. The self-service counter doesn’t just make takeaway easier, it turns it into a joyful, sensory experience of color, texture, and delicious discovery.

Where Old Friends Meet New Energy

Even with all the updates, the design stays true to what people love most about Tiong Bahru Bakery, its warmth, its honesty, and its everyday magic. The new interior simply adds a layer of freshness and flexibility, combining modern touches like digital menus and adaptive displays with the bakery’s timeless comfort and soul.

“We wanted the space to feel alive with the same rhythm as the neighborhood,” says Hannah Churchill, founder of hcreates. “It’s about designing a place that feels open, familiar, and full of life—just like the brand itself.”

A Taste of Community

From its first store in Singapore’s heritage district to its new outposts across Singapore, Tiong Bahru Bakery continues to bring people together through great food and great design. This new concept captures that journey, a space where every bite and every conversation adds to the story of the neighborhood.
