The client wanted to move away from the hard, grungy garage aesthetic associated with many craft-beer venues and create somewhere people could comfortably stay for hours. The design also had to make an unusually tall industrial volume feel intimate, while supporting different ways of eating, drinking, watching live music and experiencing the brewing process.

The plan is divided into three distinct experiences: a sunlit indoor pizza garden, a central beer hall between the stage and double-height brewing tanks, and a more intimate mezzanine lounge above. A stainless-steel entrance gives way to terracotta, plaster, terrazzo and planting, shifting the mood from the surrounding city into a greener interior. In the main hall, the brewery is deliberately exposed as theatre: the bar is broken into sections to preserve views of the tanks, while custom lanterns, oak furniture, stone flooring and a large mural add warmth and identity. Upstairs, darker timber, velvet seating, printed wallpaper and globe lighting create a more enclosed lounge.

The brewing equipment remains the visual centrepiece, but the project is not defined by industrial machinery alone. A varied material palette, planting and different spatial scales turn the former factory into a contemporary social venue with distinct moods — grand enough to celebrate the brewery, but comfortable enough to settle into.
