The design needed to communicate the quality of gelato made with imported ingredients and seasonal local flavours without becoming nostalgic or overly themed. It also had to incorporate the client’s orange identity in a way that felt integrated with the architecture.
The completed shop feels polished but approachable. Its balance of heritage and modernity mirrors the product itself: rooted in traditional craft, but open to new flavours and a distinctly Shanghai audience.
Classic Italian cues provide a refined foundation, while modern forms and details keep the space current. Orange accents connect the interior to the brand and bring energy to the restrained palette. The combination of traditional references, contemporary finishes and playful colour creates a backdrop that supports both familiar gelato flavours and the client’s more inventive seasonal offer.
