Luneurs bon enfant is located in Jing’an MIXC World. The project explores the theme of “retro futurism”, ignited by a series of retro-futuristic illustrations by a French Chocolate Factory in the 50’s and 60’s.

The concept needed to feel energetic and recognisably French without becoming kitsch or overly themed. The mall setting introduced strict fire restrictions that limited softer finishes, while the hard surfaces required for durability created an acoustic challenge. Kitchen placement and circulation also fixed much of the plan, leaving the seating to provide movement and character.

Curves, bold colour and graphic form are drawn from French retro-futurist imagery of the 1950s and 1960s. Two large sculptural banquettes reject conventional straight seating, creating pockets and unusual corners for guests. Slightly oval burl tables and cabinetry in contrasting timbers add warmth and a domestic scale. A custom checkerboard tile pattern responds simultaneously to the concept, fire requirements and maintenance needs. Working with acoustic consultant Zenfeel and Luneurs’ graphic team, a three-dimensional icon wall was developed as part of the architecture. Its monochromatic finish allows the acoustic treatment to read as a textured wall rather than applied equipment, with custom imagery—including one owner’s dog—embedded into the composition.
Bon Enfant is playful without losing restraint. The retro references are expressed through form, colour and movement rather than decoration alone, while the acoustic and fire-performance requirements become part of the concept. The result is a distinctive new chapter for Luneurs that remains modern, comfortable and connected to the brand’s French identity.
