The concept creates one home with two experiences: extérieur and intérieur. Near the entrance, a patio-like bakery, coffee and ice-cream area uses mirrored glazing to resemble a façade and reflect available light deeper into the plan. Colourful custom furniture references mid-century domestic terraces. Beyond it, the darker restaurant becomes a series of living, study, dining and kitchen spaces. Upholstered seating, rugs and furniture-scaled cabinetry give the living room softness; a dark burl study nook uses fold-down desk-like tables; and a raised patterned floor, pendant lights and clerestory windows define the dining room. Domestic-height kitchen counters connect guests to plating activity, while the commercial kitchen remains concealed behind. Freestanding joinery allowed timber and textiles to provide warmth while responding to the site’s fire requirements.
